North West Isolated Care aims to assist frail aged people and younger people with a disability and their carers who do not have access to mainstream support services so that they can continue to live at home. North West Isolated Care is managed by a Coordinator and a part-time Resource Officer. It is based in Mount Isa, Queensland, and shares office space with Mount Isa Remote Area Families Service. The Project covers a large area from the Gulf in the north to Bedourie in the far south west of the state and was established in June 1989 when approval was granted from the Commonwealth for an innovative model for carer support and service delivery.
