Cloncurry Home Owner Grant
Cloncurry Shire Council is helping put roofs on houses. At the August 2024 Ordinary Council Meeting, Cloncurry Shire Council adopted the Cloncurry Home Owner Grant Policy. This new policy enables Council to offer financial support to people interested in building a home in the Cloncurry Shire.
The Cloncurry Home Owner Grant Program builds on other economic development initiatives and aims to increase the housing stock in the Shire. The Shop Front Revitalisation Grant, implemented by Council across 2019-2022, was hugely successful. This new homeowner grant is the next initiative under Council’s Urban Renewal and Revitalisation Policy directive.
Aspiring homeowners can apply for a one-off-grant of up to $30,000 for new builds in the towns of Cloncurry and Dajarra.
The grant will complement other new home buyer grants available through other levels of government and may be offered where other programs are not (i.e. where the home is a new build in Cloncurry, but not the applicant’s first home).
The grant is intended for owner-occupiers, looking to build a new home or relocate and substantially renovate a dwelling brought from outside the Shire; this includes kit and manufactured homes.
