Each year Council holds the Cloncurry Christmas Lights Competition to encourage residents and businesses to adorn their premises with Christmas lights and decorations. Hundreds of families drive around at Christmas time to view the displays at night. Let's make our shire shine during the festive season.
A printable entry form is available here. Please complete the form and return it with a photo of your Christmas light display to the Cloncurry Shire Council administration office before COB Monday, 2 December 2024.
Entries are open now and will close on Monday, 2 December 2024.
Judging will take place on Tuesday, 3 December 2024.
Winners will be announced on Wednesday, 11 December 2024. The list of winners will also be shared on Council's Facebook page.

Conditions of entry
By entering you indicate that you have read and agree to the below conditions:
- Completed entries must be submitted to Cloncurry Shire Council no later than 5.00pm on Monday 2 December 2024.
- Only properties in the Cloncurry Shire Council area are eligible.
- Entrants must be 18 years of age or older to enter.
- Employees of Cloncurry Shire Council and their immediate family are ineligible to enter - ‘immediate family’ being a person or persons dwelling in the same house.
- By entering you consent to your address and/or lights photo to be published.
- Lights must be on between 7.00 and 9.30 pm during the judging period, Tuesday, 3 December 2024.
- Entries in the ‘Best Rural Decorated Mailbox category must include a photograph (digital or printed) for judging.
- It is the responsibility of each entrant to ensure their display is safe. Cloncurry Shire Council accept no responsibility for costs or injuries which may occur as a result of entry.
- Winners (as selected by the judging panel) will be announced on Wednesday, 11 December 2024, on Council’s website and Facebook page.
- In the event of any dispute regarding the results and all other matters relating to the Christmas Lights Competition, the decision of the Judges shall be final and no correspondence or discussion shall be entered into.
- Prize money will be awarded as Cloncurry buy local gift cards.
- Entrants acknowledge and agree that as a result of entering the Competition they are providing their personal information to Cloncurry Shire Council for the purpose of administering the Competition, awarding prizes, and publicity (including publication of entrant’s addresses for the purpose of facilitating viewing of entries by the public). Furthermore entrants acknowledge and agree that their personal information will be handled in accordance with Council’s Privacy Statement.
